QSR Summer Camp

Summer 2026

Traditional Summer Camp program at Quivira Scout Ranch functions as a tool to develop character, leadership, citizenship, and fitness to help your unit carry out the mission of Scouting.

In 2023 we updated our “Scouting 101, 102 & 103”, or “Trail to Eagle” program for newer Scouts by launching our new Outdoor Adventures for Kindling Scouting, or OAKS program. OAKS is an advancement program designed to help new Scouts get a strong start with a full week dedicated to learning fundamentals of the Scouting program: citizenship, the patrol method, fire starting, Totem Chip (knife, ax, hatchet and saw safety), orienteering/navigation, event/activity planning, fitness planning and basic hiking skills. Scouts in the OAKS program have the opportunity to work on over 80% of rank advancement requirements from Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class.

In addition to the OAKS Program, the Outdoor Skills program area teaches Scouts life-critical merit badges ranging from: First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Cooking, Fire Safety, Search & Rescue and Wilderness Survival, while also offering other skill-developing merit badges such as Signs Signals and Codes, Pioneering, Orienteering, and Geocaching.

There are many opportunities for your Scout at QSR, in addition to OAKS program, so check out the 2026 Unit Planning Guide and the Camp Map for more details!

This specialty program is designed for older Scouts looking for a summer program focused on adventure and experience beyond the traditional merit badge focused camp. HIGH Q participants, youth and adult, can participate in one of 3 Crews. Participants shall be a minimum age of 13 years old, are Blue Swimmer qualified, and able to un-swamp a canoe.

These program areas are created not only to earn merit badges, but to offer an in-depth curriculum that will help Scouts build upon their current skills or learn new ones.

HIGH Q Scouts can arrive as individuals, small groups, or whole Units and then split into their specific crews for the week.

HIGH Q Crew programs include:

  • F.I.S.H. Camp
  • Conquer the Water (Aquatics)

During HIGH Q some crews will enjoy eating in the dining hall and some will cook in camp where they will eat as a crew for a few meals, and some of the treks will be provided ingredients to cook with and are expected to cook their own meals most of the time.
