Scouting’s Humanitarian Response in Ukraine

This past week we have seen the true strength and compassion of our global Scout Movement, as young people, volunteers, local Scout groups, BP Fellows, and National Scout Organizations around the world have rallied to support Scouts in Ukraine and their local efforts during the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Thanks to the generosity of more than 1,100 donors from across the Scout Movement in partnership with the World Scout Foundation, we have reached the initial target of raising $100,000 to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. These funds will be directed to the National Organization of the Scouts of Ukraine to provide food, medicine, sleeping bags, and other necessary supplies, along with the coordination of psychological support for young people and communities impacted by the conflict. We have now raised the target of the appeal to $250,000 to provide more urgent support. We are widening the scope of the effort to direct additional funds towards neighbouring National Scout Organizations in the region who have stepped forward to offer their support to the affected population. Please consider making a donation to this effort and share the link with your friends, family and Scouting networks. More updates will be shared on the Scout Donation Platform appeal as the situation unfolds.

Support from across the Scout Movement

Over the past week, we have also seen so many examples of generosity and support from Scouts, local groups and National Scout Organizations in the neighbouring countries of Poland, Czechia, Romania, Hungary, Estonia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Latvia and Lithuania, and elsewhere around the globe. Many are coordinating their own efforts to stand in solidarity with Scouts in Ukraine, and assist refugees and others who will be displaced by the conflict into nearby countries. You can read about these inspiring acts in this story published on Scout.org or watch the video below highlighting the collective impact of Scouting efforts.
