Live Scouting’s Adventure – You’ll join more than 15,000 Scouts from all over the country, as they enjoy 10,600 acres of wild, wonderful West Virginia at the Summit. Whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing and bouldering, and mountain biking are just a few of the activities offered at the Summit. There’s also skateboarding, BMX, shooting sports, and zip-line challenge courses. And that’s just the beginning……

Dates of Quivira Council’s Contingent Trip: July 15 – July 28, 2023. The adventure includes a life changing trip to the Summit Bechtel Reserve, Mount Hope, West Virginia, and four days touring Washington DC. We will tour the monuments, Smithsonian, Ford’s Theatre, National Zoo and apply for a capitol tour and White House tour.

Who can attend the National Jamboree:

Any youth 12-18years of age registered in a BSA Troop, Crew or Ship. Any one 18-21 years of age who is registered in a unit with current Youth Protection training may participate as a youth and do all activities at the Jamboree due the cancellation of the 2021 National Jamboree. Any BSA registered adult with current Youth Protection training may attend.

Registration for youth is open. Total cost is $2,950 which includes Jamboree fee, transportation, shirts, patches, patrol and troop equipment and travel duffle bag. The final items included in the costs are still being discussed. Early signup will allow your input into the final budgeted items.

Minimum of 20 participants before October 15th to have a Quivira Council Contingent
We must have 20 participants, youth and/or adult, with a deposit of $350 on Black Pug or before October 15th, 2022, to have a contingent from Quivira Council. If we don’t meet the 20-person requirement and made a deposit, then you will get a full refund of your deposit. If meet or exceed the 20-person minimum, then we will have a contingent from Quivira Council.

50% popcorn sales commission for Quivira Council Jamboree participants
If you sign up, make a deposit on or before October 15th, 2022 for the Quivira Council National Jamboree contingent, and the required minimum of 20 attendees is meet, then you will get a 50% commission on all popcorn sales you make for the 2022 popcorn sales. The commission will be used to pay for your trip to National Jamboree. You sell the popcorn as normal with your unit. Details on how to process and receive the extra commission will be provided soon.

Payment Schedule
$350 non-refundable deposit due at registration and $325 payment due at 1st of the month from Nov 1, 2022 through June 1, 2023. Automatic reminders for payments will be sent via Black Pug.

Steps to register as a participant:

  1. Go to: https://jamboree.scouting.org/participants/ then click on the “Register Now” Button
  2. Go to: Quivira.org and click on the 2023 National Jamboree button then follow the link for Black Pug payments.

Adults interested in leadership position for the council contingent need to register on the national site, sign up via Black Pug, and then contact Patrick Reilly preilly@gmocks.com 316-655-1140 (cell) and Jo Irsik jo.irsik@scouting.org. Leadership positions will be determined by November 30, 2022.

The next Jamboree in person meeting is Saturday October 29, 2022 at 9:00am at the Council Service Center. We will have monthly Jamboree meetings scheduled up to June 2023, which will be at the Council Office @ 7pm, but may be subject to change. No meeting in December.
