Woodbadge

This five day course is an advanced, national leadership course open to Scouting volunteers and professionals. It is provided by Quivira Council’s leading trainers. Scouters from Cub Scoutng, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers, as well as district and council Scouters, all are welcome and belong at Wood Badge.

We do and learn about many things on course, including: Listening, Communicating, Managing Conflict, Leading Change, Understanding Team Development, Coaching and Mentoring, Leadership for Different Stages, Pack and Troop Operations, Project Planning, and, most importantly, learning to Train, Trust, and letting our Youth Lead.

These concepts are provided by our training team through presentations, games, discussions, activities, and hands-on methods. Be advised, we have a lot of fun!

Thirty adult leaders from around our region gathered at QSR over two weekends in April as a testament to their dedication and leadership in supporting our Scouting youth. Throughout the course, participants engaged in hands-on learning, team-building exercises, and practical application of scouting principles. This course isn’t just about acquiring new skills, it’s also the embodiment of our scouting values such as integrity, service, and respect for others.

These participants emerged from Wood Badge equipped with enhanced leadership abilities, a deeper understanding of the scouting program, and an expanded network of fellow leaders. The weather may have provided some excitement on the final weekend, but these leaders persevered just like our Scouts. They are now prepared to execute their Tickets to make a positive impact in their Scouting communities, guiding and inspiring the next generation of Scouts. We look forward to the ripple effect their actions will deliver!
