Family Troops

We know many of you are very excited about Family Troops. Here is EVERYTHING we know about the process so far:

  1. To be clear, no Charter Partner will be forced or expected to charter a Family Troop.
  2. If your unit is converting, but not combining 2 units, an Intent to Convert form must be filled out for the unit. If you are wanting to convert AND combine units, an Intent to Convert form must be filled out for both units.
  3. All Intent to Convert  forms must be signed by the following:
    • • Chartered Organization Representative (printed and signed)
      • Committee Chair (printed and signed)
      • Scoutmaster (printed and signed)
      • If merging troops, all key three signatures from both troops are required, even if the positions are filled by the same person in both troops.
  4. A New Unit application is NOT required to combine/convert units, neither are new youth/adult applications.
  5. However, if you are adding new adults or youth OR the chartered partner for the combined unit is changing new apps are required as usual.
  6. If you are combining units, you will need to notate which unit is “staying” and which unit is “closing”.
  7. Every unit becoming a Family Unit must have a copy of the Family Troop Best Practices guide, which can be found below.
  8. All converted units will keep their primary unit numbers, but a new leading number will be given. Example : 0111/1111 will become 4111.
  9. A list of Adult leaders and the roles they will have in the converted unit should be provided at the same time as the Intent to Convert form is submitted.
  10. Everything is done at Council Level and with it being renewal time the Registrar is going to get busy. If you are wanting to convert your unit please schedule a time with D’Kolle
  11. MOST IMPORTANT! This is a new process with lots of learning curves. Please be patient while we learn and figure this out together.
